Café Assistant (Part-Time)
Position Summary:
The Café Assistant supports the daily operations of the café by providing excellent customer service, preparing beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role plays an important part in creating a warm, hospitable space where guests and church members can connect and feel valued. The Café Assistant also assists with setup and cleanup and contributes to a positive, team-oriented atmosphere.

Schedule:
Part-time; primarily Sundays and Wednesday evenings (hours may vary based on operational needs).

Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and serve guests in a friendly, welcoming, and hospitable manner
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and handle transactions accurately
- Prepare coffee, espresso drinks, and other menu items according to established standards
- Restock food items, beverages, and supplies as needed throughout shifts
- Assist with inventory organization and notify leadership of low stock levels
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including counters, equipment, and seating areas
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setup and breakdown of the café
- Work collaboratively with team members and volunteers to ensure smooth and efficient operations
- Support the overall mission and values of the organization through a spirit of service and excellence
Qualifications:
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable and punctual, especially for scheduled Sunday and Wednesday shifts
- Ability to handle cash and basic math transactions accurately
- Previous barista or food service experience preferred, but not required
- Alignment with the mission and values of the organization
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as preparing drinks and restocking items
